Jockey Club, Hong Kong

The new Hong Kong Jockey Club is a luxurious space of dark and light contrast, where opposites attract and similarity is celebrated. Opened in January 2014, this spacious clubhouse demonstrates the interaction between nature and modern design. With the inspiration of a contemporary Victorian-style barn house, imondi’s Kongens White Oak, used for both floor planks and panels, was a perfect choice for this project.

The rich hues in the floor panels, using engineered White Oak from our Chocolate Range, are enhanced by the Club’s interior, such that the warm yellow lighting brings out the lighter hues; and the darker wood is complemented by the chocolate-coloured seating.

The engineered White Oak was given a multi-layered, natural oil finish – done by hand, as with all our products – which highlights the sophisticated look of the clubhouse interior.

This success of the Hong Kong Jockey Club design was enabled by the use of imondi’s Kongens White Oak from our Chocolate Range; with widths of 189mm, lengths of 1860mm, and completed with hand-finished oil.
